Ellyse Perry Returns to New South Wales After Six Seasons with Victoria

Ellyse Perry has officially confirmed her return to New South Wales (NSW), rejoining the Breakers after six successful seasons representing Victoria in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL). Despite limited availability due to international commitments, Perry made a significant impact during her stint in Melbourne, scoring 1052 runs at an impressive average of 75.14 and taking 13 wickets.

The star allrounder will once again don the NSW colours in the upcoming domestic season, although her appearances will be limited due to her commitments with the Australian national team, including the ODI World Cup. She is expected to be available during a possible January window, ahead of India's multi-format tour of Australia.

Perry, who continued to represent the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) while playing state cricket for Victoria, expressed her gratitude for her time in Melbourne and her excitement about returning to her home state.

“The last six years I've spent in Melbourne and at Cricket Victoria have been extremely fond ones and I'm incredibly grateful for all the opportunities and memories that I'll cherish,” Perry said. “I'm really looking forward to being back in Sydney and closer to my family and longtime friends. It's been lovely to stay in touch with CNSW through the Sixers and I feel very fortunate to be walking back into a world-class program.”

New South Wales’ head of female elite cricket, Leah Poulton, welcomed Perry back with high praise, calling her a leader and role model both on and off the field.

“We're thrilled to welcome Ellyse back home to the Breakers,” Poulton said. “She's not only one of the world's premier cricketers, but also a role model and leader whose impact extends far beyond the field. Pez's professionalism, experience, and approach to the game make her an incredible asset to any team.”

In addition to her domestic commitments, Perry has signed on to play for Hampshire in July and will link up with Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred in August. With Australia facing a quiet winter, Perry’s next international assignment will be the away ODI series against India in September, which will serve as preparation for the ODI World Cup.

Perry’s return is a significant boost for the Breakers, who head into the new season as defending WNCL champions.
